Its not that.. its spammer sites that trick the search engines into indexing their shit.

Example: search for something that you want to buy, it's likely that you will get hits that are revelent to the subject but as you dig into the sites you will hit retail sites like target, bedbath and beyond and random internet sites advertising products that no longer exist, links have been moved etc..

Faulty hits due to spam overload.

Nothing wrong with Google. And I use the search engine with my Google account so it keeps track of my searches. Helps to refine the hits I think (?)
