Player colapse during game

this happened during the game on saturday. He still is in critical condition.

22 years of age, player of the national team, brilliant player , bright future


the medics said later that he colapse because of a heart attack, and that minutes later he suffered another one in the dressing room and collapsed again
medics also say he suffered some brain damage

to make matters worse,hes girlfriend is suposed to give birth in 6 weeks

im just wondering what might have cause the heart failure

my godmother just passed away in a similar fashion about 4 months ago. i've never met a more fit and health-conscious woman. she got hit in the chest with a tennis ball, not hard. 10 minutes later she collapsed of a heart attack... her heart went into arythemia. lots of people have 'nodes' in their heart/arteries that block the blood flow and the heart tries to recover, especially when hit in the chest and then send the person into heart failure/arythemia. i am guessing that this was a similar situation although i really have no clue. a lot of times these nodes aren't even recognized until a problem like this happens, sometimes its too late. very sad.

Antonio Puerta was a good young football player and a great talent as well.

It's very sad indeed...but it's very likely that he wasn't in perfect condition. He probably had a genetic heart defect and never knew it. This is not the first time this has happened to a young, seemingly healthy athelete and it's a well known phenomenon in the medical world.
