Danny Tengalia is the most overhyped DJ in the business.. and yes I was a regular at the Be Youself Parties at Vinyl/Arc .. half the people there were on drugs regularly - when you are high, anything sounds great

as someone mentioned earlier.. this is all a business decision on his part.. and who is he to say what people can listen to or not.. Im sure many of the artists he plays tracks from would appreciate the extra promotion..

maybe the drugs u were on mad his music sound bad LOL ....i went every week as well to those partys and they were legendary nights. to each his own i guess, different musical preferences ? and honestly, name one club whether it be in new york or the rest of the world that people DONT use any drugs in? unfortunatley its part of this "culture" and DEF part of the night life.look im not defending the guy, i am defending the music he plays. its amazing how everyone is being such a baby about this subject. i bet if he allowed recordings of his sets, no one would say he sucks or is washed up etc etc. man the fuck up people, its just one dj who plays music at clubs...WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH

i cant imagine if digweed did this, people would be slitting wrists on this board

Btw, Just Think If Djs Thought Their Sets May Be Recorded Do You Think They Will Keep Playing Their Gems Or Personal Re-edits, Hmm... I Guess These Ingrates Dont Give A Shit About The Music And The Bond Between Dancefloor And Dj!

even before his numerous rants, i thought he was losing it.. you have to include the fact that his sound is outdated..

not saying it counts for much.. but he used to alwasy be ranked in the top 10 of the world.. hes somehow fallen to much further than that

It's definitely his "right" to not be recorded/filmed without his consent, but it is contrary to basically everything that I've come to know electronic dance music to be about.

For me, EDM is about of not only listening to but the sharing of music - the joy of hearing something that moves you and telling your friends, or sharing some new tracks or mixes with a fellow fan or DJ.

It also just so happens that by sharing music a DJ stands tofinancially beneift by: spreading his/hername, legend, and status which will in turn help him/herreap the benefits with his/her release cd's/mixes/tour shows/residency's/free clothes, records, equipment/et, et, all the other perks of being a so-called "big name DJ."

I don't know if it really is about the money, from his words he sounds sincere but his argument is innately flawed. Danny doesn't even understand that he is conceptually in the wrong because 90% of what he is playing (records/generally shared synths) are technically the "private ownership" of whomever created them and he doesn't have to get permission from each and every one of them to be able to play their tracks and synths live (which is essentially the "product" he is so keen on hoarding to try and apparently inflate his net worth).

His "right" to cry afoul with righteous indignation, it just doesn't seem like this is something that will be benefiting him in the long run.

Confusing logic by my accounts.
