Who else hates "Websense" ?

I've been at this job for 2.5 years and the one reason it's all been good is that I can access filesharing sites to trade tracks with people in the absence of real instant messaging transfers. It was a pain in the ass but I could still chat with my friends and other DJs and Promoters through www.meebo.com .

Now Meebo is blocked and I don't know what to do.......

I only wait for the day they block [ms] at work lol. All sites I use to control and monitor our sites with hpps urls are already blocked anyway. Scanning the funny pictures thread is a red x parade for me and most links posted lead to the stupid business message that the site is blocked because it is not in correlation with the business rules of my company. They even blocked most used E-mail clients this year which was an unhappy surprise for many colleagues. This can only get worse.

Ha. I love it. I used to have to manually put in block entries for malicious sites for my company until we got the Websense. It's not perfect but it saves me a lot of time. And I work from home, so it doesn't affect me anyways.

You could create an SSH tunnel to a proxy somewhere and completely bypass it. However, if you get caught circumventing company policy might get you insta-fired.

I know we have to go through a proxy now and I think that's how they block this shiz-we got mobile broadband cards that when used and not connected to the LAN go to any site...

tbh, I do double duty being a DJ/Promoter and holding down the day job. everyone here knows what I do and is cool with it because i handle my work shit. I WAS cool with it because I could at least meebo with people. I'm down for any remedies anyone might have since I'm literally buggin out. I'd love to take my people to task here about using a site-that's not pr0n or anything like that WHILST doing a great job here..........

Just be glad they haven't installed the mobile client too. That will prevent you from going to the same sites even when your not behind the proxy. You could always use an anonymizer proxy to get the the sites. The best thing to do would be to set up your own proxy at home and relay thru that. Websense also has an anonymizer category which they might be blocking too.
