Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

Maybe people in the states can use to pay
a portion of their mortgage, would have to agree
with the oncoming market correction, the US has
lived to long off incoming foriegn investment
(China and the Middle East) now after pissing that away
what's left.... official third world status.

[Steve Graham]

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

^^^ its only 600 or 1200 dollars, not really going to dent their mortgage, plus its to stimulate the economy, lol.. not get you out of debt

[clintlove]

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

lol.. this stupid ass government is so freaking hilarious.

they rush this bill through to get the economy "stimulated" and now we have to wait 4-7 months in order to get the damn thing.

makes absolutely no sense.

this stupid ass government is also fucking retarded, they plan on spending 42 million dollars just to send out notification letters to all who will receive the rebate checks

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

lol... IRS is sending out NOTICES to let people know their rebate is on the way... as if noone knew...

from: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/03/08/tax....ap/index.html

"The notices are going out this month to an estimated 130 million households who filed returns for the 2006 tax year, at a cost $41.8 million, IRS spokesman John Lipold confirmed.

That works out to about 32 cents to print, process and mail each letter. It doesn't include the tab for another round of mailings planned for those who didn't file tax returns last year but may still qualify for a rebate.

Democrats accused the Bush administration of wasting time and postage.

"There are countless better uses for $42 million than a self-congratulatory mailer that gives the president a pat on the back for an idea that wasn't even his," Sen. Charles Schumer said Friday, arguing the IRS could more effectively spend the money to catch tax cheats."

just thought everyone needs yet another laugh this saturday =p

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

"catching tax cheats"? wtf? that's hardly the first thing that comes to mind when i think of using government money.

i don't know...maybe we could do something productive and positive?

or, perhaps, we should also give that money back IN the rebates.

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

free money in the mail? thats whats up!

[Miroslav]

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

^^yeah...except that it's money you gave to the government in the first place. And if you could have held on to that money, you could have invested it and over the long term earned probably somewhere around historical market returns of 12% (plus or minus a few). So basically it's like we gave the government an interest-free loan

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

free to be taxed next next year.

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

i remembered hearing that it was only supposed to be a max of 400. WOW that would be nice to recieve a check for 1200. I'd be getting me a sub and a nice presonus firepod. YEAH....that's if I get that kind of cabbage.

[Steve Graham]

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

its 600 per person fomr what i gather.. 1200 if you are married, so then basically she gets 1200

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

no way...that's 42 million that could have gone to the Iraq war FFS....

[threehills]

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

^ lol

What I want to know is, Is this money "tax free". Are we going to have to report it as income on our 2008 returns? I'll keep the anal lube close by just in case.

Has much this government done really made sense?

i had to read that sentence twice. thought i might have a new one to add to my sig.

Yeah I had to read it a few times myself, think it may need an extra word or two
