i think that windows shortcuts aren't that bad, either. Except that we don't have apples on our keyboard, but a nifty flag looking windows start button, which can supply you with all kinds of 'cuts.

agreed, I use my keyboard so much for windows shortcuts (esp in word) it's one of my biggest fears of having to deal with the learning curve that keeps me away.

do the right thing m8 and learn how to build your own, u get more satisfaction out of doing it and it anything goes wrong u know what to replace by eliminating possible faults, its easy

Being a system builder, I understand what red1 is saying but not everyone has the time or effort to put into building a system. We know it's easy for us but not everyone is inclined enough to care or know that it really is that easy. If anything, they should read, read, read articles and reviews of pre-built systems and see what known issues are out there (if any) and then base their purchase on that. Is it really that hard to put in an hour or two of research before you go make a major purchase such as a computer? C'mon, peepole.

i just bought my first mac last month and it is nice. first time ever using any type of mac product so im a pretty big n00b when it comes to this. it is nice having a unix kernel underneath the hood, that is what i am going to enjoy messing with, plus the nice looking OS with a stable kernel underneath = great in my book.

i have been building my PCs from the start, but could never go with wanted configuration, always had to sacrifice something because of price, and that is the point where you take something which is similar but not like the thing, and at the end you come up with unstable rig.

easy as that, so i think 2 hours arent enough for a stable system.

update... I decided to get the thing repaired, since I have owned it for way to short of a time period.

After a few hundred bucks and TWO WEEKS I get it back...and the thing won't even fucking START. Turns out they forgot to do some static electricity power discharge...so once that is finally taken care of everything starts to work...

...and now every time the fan runs, there is this awful grinding noise.


oh sweet jesus...just end it all now.

^^ that's part of it. The other part is that for $200 I felt like it would be worth it to try to fix it, rather than trash the computer that I had only had for about a year. I still plan to get a mac when I get out of school, but I was hoping I could get at least another year out of this HP... apparently not
