Seamus Haji just released a 2cd set on the Big Love label
the shapeshifeters released a 3cd set in August on Defected which was great

Glad someone out there likes us! I personally thought Big Love was a bit cheesy electro and the Shapeshifters mix was drifitng towards the commerical end of the scale. But I'd like to think Defected and Stricltly are purveyors of proper, decent, meodic House. We've got a new mix comp out in a couple of weeks Goa '09 - check out the DJ Pearl mix - some wicked moments on there:

its like im living in german minimalist hell lately.

all this shitty stuff lately is bleep bleep, echoed bleeps, boops, bops, echoed kicks. melodies apparantly are illegal to produce unless you live in south america.

I share this same battle, only its almost everyday with my roomate. There is def. an old school approach to edm that seems to have dissapeared or is a lost art. Even the new school house djs such as those mentioned in this thread (TLB, Timewriter, etc) dont bang it like they used to, as their music is infused with bits of tech, minimal and even electro. The minimal lovers tend to say that the melodies are gay and fluff, however, I see it as structure and composition and something that relates to even classical orchestrated music itself and what the actual definition of music even is. To me, it seems like the minimal tech lovers are so into the fact that the music is "techno" with the bleeps and blips that rule, with no rhyme or reason, other than the sheer fact that it is annoying as hell and gets on everyone elses nerves, making it the coolest sound out there. Such a shitty justification...and talk about shit that clears the dancefloor...ugh.

there is still lots of good deep house that gets released. maybe not anywhere near as much as in '99-'02 when i was buying vinyl, but its still out there.

I will always be about the house first and foremost. Thats what got me into electronic music. It will never loose it's appeal IMO!

since then it only pops its head out from time to time

the last sighting i saw was at Steve Bug's sets at Sunday School Degenerates

i pop on anyone's new mixes and i feel like im listening to a TRON soundtrack. shit, the song they did at the end of revenge of the nerds had a more housey feel to it, and they had takashi on a gong and booger on a guitar.
