^ ^ You really need to read up on the subject before you get into overclocking. It's not difficult but if you 1) don't have the right parts and 2) don't know what you're doing, you can fry your stuff very easily. How is your system holding up?

to be honest very well.....is just my anxiety to know what my computer can do and what cannot, but i read about that, you can mess with the bios or fry your Mobo, so i think twice before doing that heheh...

but i installed Spore, James Bond: Quantum and NFS: Undercover, gonna try Crysis...


and im doing some tweaks to XP so it starts faster and better....

believe me, overclocking is like going to a peep show with your hands cuffed behind your back, you get a stiffy with the hotties but you can't do shit with it.

Just operate your system at the recommended settings unless you are going to be a die-hard gamer and need the .5 ghz etc. for whatever reason.

yeah, so far all my games installed works perfectly, just installed crysis and it stared with high settings,i read about that you can put them on very high coz you cant put DX10 on Windows Xp that sux, i read about to overwrite the DLLs, but im afraid that it doesnt work

later i will put my cpu setting with CPU-Z so if you know how to get a better performance without overclocking...

what processor are you buying and overclocking that's going to save you $2000 ? I thought everything you bought at Frys was on sale

When the Opteron 165 was out, it was nowhere near the top of the line. By overclocking this beast, I was able to make it outperform the processor that went for over $2400 that AMD offered. I paid about $245 for this thing back in early '06. If my math is correct, that's a savings of over $2000.

yes but that is IF you were in the market to buy a $2K processor to begin with, if you can't afford it/weren't considering purchasing it, then what you're saying doesn't chime. I could say I didn't buy a Ferrari but I bought an Acura instead and saved me $150K. If I can't afford that car to begin with or wasn't considering buying it, I didn't save a dime.

^ ^ LOL. Dude. Read it again. I bought a processor from AMD. They manufactured a processor with the same specs that put out 2.6GHz and had the same cache as mine. I OC'd my Opteron 165 to outperform said processor and now it would be deemed as better. Your comparison in no way relates to what I did. Acura to Ferrari?
