Seriously, if Johns lived in a country where it was considered normal to carry a hand gun it is more than likely he would have been held up with a gun!! So we have have two very nervous people [actually in Johns's case more] with guns. He had a far better chance of ending up o either dead or charged with murder in that scenario!!

Aren't there laws about ordinary people carrying concealed weapons anyway?? Carrying a gun to go down to the shops , unless you are planning to rob them , is probably just a tad extreme.

For the sake of Johns, it's probably best to keep him out of the discussion.

And 99% of people who are getting mugged don't just hand over the wallet. Everyone reacts differently to the situation, with or without a gun. Some people are more confrontational than others. Some just don't take shit from people. It all depends on personality and circumstances and the epinephrine/norepinephrine running through your system at the time.

Most don't do that except in the most conservative of towns. You really won't even find that in the cities. And it's a Concealed Carry Weapons permit which just means you conceal the weapon. Not sure about other states, but here in AZ most places require extensive training and marksmanship to even acquire one. Training is done by previous law enforcement/military personnel. So at least there's a guarantee that if someone is carrying a CCW, that they are probably an adequate shot.

In any case, a store just has to put on their window that they don't allow firearms.

sigh...ok not 99%. I don't know what the actual percentage is. Maybe we can do a poll or something. But I'm still willing to bet money that if you jump a person and stick a loaded gun in their face, more people than not will do as they're told. If you disagree, that's fine... But my general experience is that people tend to be brave and talk a lot of shit - as long as it's not their life that's actually on the line. That's no secret.

Anyways, I think I'm done with this thread...I have nothing left to say.

^ We can't even curb the influx of drugs, how do you think we're going to stop the movement of illegal ammo? I mean, you can still buy illegal arms in the US. How do you think bad guys get guns without having to go through background checks?

By coding ammo, the bad guys are forced to move underground which means more tax payer dollars have to be diverted to set up new units to combat illegal ammo being brought into the country.

This will not stop crime; it'll only let it flourish. At the same time, with tax increases on ammo, people will be buying less ammo and thus the state will be putting a strain on gun manufacturers. Soon thereafter, the wish of the pansy asses will come true and guns will once again be only accessible to illegal firearm owners and the general, law-abiding public will have to suffer at the mercy of criminals and be completely reliant on the police, who will probably have even more corruption at the higher levels.

Then as an old man you out of fear buy a gun for protection then find yourself in a horrible situation and have to use the thing then great news for you this bullshit regulated ammo sucks ass and misfires and that was the point. Your dead and your family gets raped.

Myself i would rather have the option to carry out that decision to shoot some one had that decision been presented in a away where no other option will protect you and those you love.

You must have Hunters Education or equivalent too certification to even be considered.

A lot of people don't realize that it is a concealed weapons permit. Sword or whatever Gun.

Um...what I'm about to tell you has nothing to do with whether this legislation is a good idea or not, but to the best of my knowledge Ammunition Accountability really doesn't do anything to the quality of the bullets. The serial is micro-etched on with a laser; you likely wouldn't even see it with your own eyes. The bullets aren't going to misfire any more or less than they did before. If you have info supporting your case, please provide it.

Great! Now let me tell you what will happen to you if you actually do that:

You will be picked up by the police and investigated under the law. I'm no expert lawyer, but I do know that the key legal differentiator of murder from other forms of homicide is the state of mind when you commit the act - i.e., is there premeditated intent behind it. And also that the key aspect of self defense is acting with reasonable force under the belief that your life is in danger.

Since you killed a man, you'll very likely have to stand trial. You'll have a tough time convincing a jury that you were acting in self defense when you shot him in the back. And you'll have a tough time convincing a jury that you didn't act with clear intent to kill the guy. The fact that he assaulted you is a crime, but that won't change the fact that you committed the criminal act of murder.

And so you'll wind up guilty of murder and likely end up with a prison sentence! Congratulations!! You got any more of these excellent ideas?


It would be really good if some of you would holster the patriotic, tough gun talk and think a bit more.

I was under the impression you were talking about just a mugging and not having a gun to your face. Regardless, people act differently under pressure. Just pointing that out since you guys are making the claim that we gun owners are just mocking hollywood types and trying to be 'macho.'
