What do you think - should I buy this?

I have been offered a PS3 40GB, with two controllers, a charging stand for the controllers, a HDMI cable, one blu ray film (Saw) and one game (Buzz Quiz) - for £200

I have been after a PS3 for a while and I don't know if I will get a better deal than this? The only drawback is the lack of games really.

The guy who is selling it has played it a handful of times and still has the box and packaging. He is a friend of a work colleague.

What is the HDMI cable for anyway?

The cable is for a hi-def TV I believe. We needed one for the WII when we got our flat screen.

Think I'm gonna do it - I have the cash and also a bit of time on my hands coming up so might as well do it. The free online gaming is a great incentive too.

Will need to get shot of my PS2 now though, but resale prices for that console are poor at best

^^Take what your offered for your PS2 man, it'l not be much!! I'v had a PS3 for just over a year. One of the best things i'v ever purchased.

Will be happy to get £50 for the PS2 as I have 7 games with it and it is in immaculate condition. Must admit, £50 is a bit hopeful though! It's amazing how much these things go down in value!

i wouldn't get rid of your ps2 unless you don't ever plan on playing your games again.... ps2 is NOT compatible with ps3.

i thought the basic ps3 was 80gb.... thats what mine is. i didn't know they made 40gb. i don't know that i'd get the 40gb one unless that is enough room for you. the price seems a little high, imo.

I already have a 360.

The thing is, the GB is only if you download games isn't it? I dont plan in doing that much, I prefer to play games on disc.

And arent the controllers about 30 quid each anyway - so I think it is a good price.

Mine is a 40gb. Thats all you need. I play games on disc and watch Blu-Ray discs. Cushty.

yeah its for d/ling games, and movies plus your system constantly checks for updates to your ps3 or for your games that load to your hd. also if you want to, you can upload any music, etc to just lsiten to thru your ps3 or set up your own soundtracks on games. its a good deal you're getting but i wanted to spend the extra dough on the bigger hd cuz i save a lot of stuff to it.

ps - suggest ninja gaiden sigma. sick sick game and you can get it on amazon.com for cheap.

^ Cheers mate I will look into that. Think I'm just a casual gamer who enjoys a select few games e.g. GTA, Gears of War but I'm interested to see how the PS3 looks/handles

it is much smoother than xbox 360. more steady frames per second on the really hi def games. i think you'll like it.

i got mine (80 gig) for $200 with 2 controllers and about 15 games, dig and you can find a better deal. defo get one tho, very well worth it. i'm not so much into gaming anymore, but all my music stored on mine, when the kids arent playing games we are listening to music, watching movies etc. once you buy get rid of the ps2, all your ps2 games will play on the ps3.
