Absolute joke that he has so many of his own productions on there as usual. Not only does he get paid for the album, but royalties on top of that! Does he even bother seeking out that much new music do you think?

you gotta be into ecletic to appreciate lavelle's work imo he's one of the best at shaking things up a bit giving the listener something unexpected which is increasingly rare and not exactly sought after much either imo.

didn't care for the Nic CD at all. He was amazing live though. As far as Lavelle, I've seem him be amazing some nights, and not even beat match others.... Lavelle has got some amazing clothes!!!!!

Totally agree mate, I'm not just dissing Lavelle here. Seems most mix comps these days have 'dj's own interpretation's' and 'unreleased mix' tracks on them. What happened to just finding 25 good tunes and whacking them together?

you prob won't track sales, but labels do, and the writing is on the wall for 2cd compilations that are simple reflections of club sets. consumers are screaming for a difference in these albums, which is why you're seeing alternate routes like this. i know djs have pioneered compilation concepts in the pre-digital days, hawtin obviously springs to mind, but djs are having to get more creative out of necessity now. it's undoubtedly what gave rise to joris voorn, or bringing it back home, jz's electic masters offering. personally, i don't think it's any bad thing...
Pity Marcus James doesn't make proper posts on here - he's got tremendous insight as well as being a bloody good DJ.
