Something Corrupt is Going On

[runningman]

Where is the Governor of South Carolina?? He has been missing for several days now and apparently his wife and family don't even know where he is. He didn't show up for fathers day as well.

Something fishy is going on here.

Update

Now he just suddenly popped up and says he will be back on Wednesday.

Re: Something Corrupt is Going On

Perhaps this is bad example to post this on because I certainly find this to be odd myself, but does there exist anything at all where your reaction is not one of the following?

a. Well, this is an example of corruption in action
b. Well, there's a conspiracy afoot.
c. Well, the apocalypse is clearly upon us
d. All of the above.

You know, sometimes shit just happens, on its own, and then fizzles out without any serious long-term consequences. In fact, MOST of the time, shit just happens, on its own, and then fizzles out without any serious long-term consequences.

Governors don't disappear. Not with Satellites and secret service.

But I do see what you are saying.

I will make you a deal. When the world starts getting better (and economy) I will be more optimistic. Til then I will report corrution and how bad the world is.

Also I never implied Apocolypse. I don't go that hard. I just report bank robberies, corruption, murder, and power. And with the world now a days there is a lot of that going around.

I hate to say it, but you might be right in this instance:

Re: Something Corrupt is Going On

haha...oh shit. I gotta say, it sounds like runningman's prognosis may hit home on this one. I can just see Sanford's staffers right now shitting a brick as they figure out how to damage control this one. This whole thing really sounds fishy as hell - even if it's not corruption, something is clearly not right with this man. For God's sake...would you really just wander off onto the Appalachian trail for four days and not even tell your own wife and children? And over Father's Day? This is just not the way that any sane, clean person behaves, much less one elected to govern a US state.

I'm already seriously questioning whether he will serve out his term. I don't think he is fit to remain as governor. At best, he grossly neglected the office he swore to uphold; at worst, he behaved in a criminal manner. I guess we will find out soon enough where he ends up on that spectrum...

Re: Something Corrupt is Going On

Interesting article about Sanford -- evidently, odd behavior is not that unusual for him. If anything, it makes it seem less likely that anything sinister was going on and more likely that Sanford would just up and leave the country for kicks for a few days without telling anyone. Definitely interesting...

If only politicians could be so helpful.

wheeee! And there we have it folks...went to see his Argentinian mistress for Father's Day.

I think impeachment proceedings are in the near-term future for this guy.

Nah, he's a republican and he got caught having an affair with a woman. With all the trouble the GOP has had with philandering figureheads of late, they'll throw him a parade for just having a plain old, heterosexual affair that doesn't involve hookers, diapers, airport restrooms, or giant furry panda costumes.

Re: Something Corrupt is Going On

^^ haha... except that he secretly left the country for five days to have his affair with no communication and no appropriate formal arrangements for anyone to handle key responsibilities, thereby recklessly and very significantly abandoning his duties to the office to which he was elected and sworn. If they will get him for something, I think that will be the angle... I agree that the affair in and of itself won't be the issue.

...and, Fox has "mistakenly" identified him as a Democrat. Did the same thing with Foley. Runningman, can I get a little love for my conspiracy theory here?

Re: Something Corrupt is Going On

In light of the fact that this affair was evidently discovered 5 months ago, what are we to make of his wife's comment that she didn't know where he was? Did she know, and she was covering for him, or did she really not know (although I guess even if she didn't know for sure, she'd have a pretty good idea).

Don't know that it matters, just kinda curious. I had assumed her story was BS from the outset just because, c'mon now, who just vanishes for days at a time without bothering to tell their wife where they are going? Even if she didn't know specifically where he was -- hell, I travel a lot, and it wouldn't surprise me if my wife wasn't 100% sure where I was geographically on every trip -- but she at least knows how to reach me. Very, very odd.
