Actually Michigan plays Ohio State. Ohio ended their season last Saturday 4-7 (2-4 MAC) by losing to Akron 31-19.

What does the name "Michigan" mean?

"Michigan" comes from the Indian word "Michigama" meaning great or big lake. The French first used the word for the Great Lake that Native Americans called the "Lake of the Illinois"--now Lake Michigan. It was first used officially to refer to this land area when Congress created the Territory of Michigan in 1805.

BTW, no one has cared about the rose bowl much for years. It's all about the other bowls.

It used to be who won the rose bowl was considered the champion but then over time that changed.
