I am! Check out a pub called the 'The Bernard Shaw' around the corner from the Tripod venue.. Run by these guys www.bodytonicmusic.com, they also have a nightclub 'The Twisted Pepper' on the other side of the city.. They hire in decent acts weekly and always have stuff going on either in the pub or nightclub.
Maybe stay out of the places like TempleBar.. Local tourist trap nightspot, well give it a look but you will find little Irish there to be honest. Other night clubs for tunes would be Wax/Spy and the underground@Kennedys. To be honest we don't have the biggest Selection of Dance Nightclubs in Dublin. The bodytonic guys use to run the pod's nights until they branched out and got there own bar/nightclub, now its not what it was but Tripod upstairs still books the big names.
Go to the Guinness Storehouse and if you get a chance take a trip out to the countryside, maybe Wicklow or somewhere, plenty of day bus trips. Bring a coat as its coooold. Good luck and have fun!
