        The reason is 2 fold. Firstly, we couldn't simply paste the actual link to the set so people could right click, choose "save as" and download the mix. The reason was that the links were being stolen and bandwidth was going through the roof. We had to make the link / script jump through a few hoops before the file was actually brought forward for download.

        moreover, when we kept the the extension as .mp3, a lot users browsers were inadvertently setup to automatically play media content from within the browser itself. As a result lot of people came on here asking how do we download this WITHOUT having the browser open it.

        As a result, the idea was then to rename/remove the extension so the browser doesn't recognize the file type and automatically brings up the "save as" box.

                            Not sure I understand this question. When Diggerz played on Kiss 100, who would we get 'em from? Now Transitions are on Proton, so it's from them. Its not like both are playing his mixes and we're choosing one over the other.

                                    Aren't Kiss broadcasts and Proton shows for Transitions the same? I think he means he prefers the Proton versions without the cheesy Kiss voiceovers etc?

                                            ^^ Same here, after almost ten years I am totally conditioned lol. I miss the Essential mix jingles sometimes but not enough to listen to what they air nowadays.

                                                The Kiss version always seems to sound a little better, strangely the voiceovers can change between the Proton and Kiss shows.

                                                I like the Kiss tradition + the renaming means I can tag the file with my own file name immediately, so now I'm used to setting them up in i-tunes with a show no, coverflow and tracklist on the Sunday.
