i dont get what you mean when you say doing nothing? in every single nano second that passes by there is so much happening, and again this is my take on it and thats how i view the world from my own eyes. the "Force" was in complete silence and vacuum, and created all of this around us from nothing, and the force sits in control making sure everything falls into right place or else lets say a meteor getting out of its path and coming towards earth, who would you think is making sure this doesnt happen for the past billions of years so obviously there is a force that controls what is going on, wanna read something interesting and it dosent have to be millions of light years away from you! read sth about the human heart and the amount of blood it pumps through your body non stop from the day you were in ur mothers womb till day, its scary sometimes to think about how complex the human body is yet the universe, but its all from the same one force, who do you think set the planets to be this way and put earth on a specific distance from the sun and put the moon on the other side and set us to revolve this way around them so we can have day and night and covered earth with the ozone layer and chose it to be the planet were human kind will exist on, all a coincidence?!!! not, think about the most essentials for us living and you'll find them provided for free (i.e. air, try to hold ur breath for a min and see how u'll feel), everything is in perfect balance and thats what the force has been doing all this time, it created the system and now its controlling and observing it. and again time is just a human value, what could be billions of years for us humans could be one day for the Force

Re: The power of the Sun
the latest in theoretical physics seem to suggest that the creation of the our universe out of "nothing" is in fact a by product of the crashing of waves from "membranes" (or branes (sp?) as they are referred to) in a higher dimension (11th dimension as far as M Theory goes), which resulted in the creation of not 1 universe, but multiverses. there was time before time as we know it.i dont get what you mean when you say doing nothing? in every single nano second that passes by there is so much happening, and again this is my take on it and thats how i view the world from my own eyes. the "Force" was in complete silence and vacuum, and created all of this around us from nothing, and the force sits in control making sure everything falls into right place
More than 90% of species on planet earth were once wiped out meteors and asteroids, so it's just a matter of cosmic timing before the next one "gets" us, which is why the US and a lot of European countries are investing large amounts of money, not only to detect near earth object but even future technologies that could prevent extinction-level events from possibly annihilating us all.
I admit the possibility there could be a "force" at work, but if all of what you say is intended to be the epitome of it's creation, don't you think 12 billion years is an awfully long time to have come up with it?wanna read something interesting and it dosent have to be millions of light years away from you! read sth about the human heart and the amount of blood it pumps through your body non stop from the day you were in ur mothers womb till day, its scary sometimes to think about how complex the human body is yet the universe, but its all from the same one force,
nothing "put" the earth at a specific distance from the sun other than cosmological unfolding of events related to planetary formation. The moon is generally believed to be a part of a left over planet that collided with the earth 4.5 billion years ago and the debris from the collision/left over planet is trapped by the gravitational tug of the earth. moreover, the moon is moving away from the earth (like an inch every year or so). in a matter of a few million years, the moon will distance itself far enough where its' gravitational effect on the earth will be marginal at best. what's going to save us then?who do you think set the planets to be this way and put earth on a specific distance from the sun and put the moon on the other side and set us to revolve this way around them so we can have day and night and covered earth with the ozone layer and chose it to be the planet were human kind will exist on, all a coincidence?!!! not, think about the most essentials for us living and you'll find them provided for free (i.e. air, try to hold ur breath for a min and see how u'll feel), everything is in perfect balance and thats what the force has been doing all this time, it created the system and now its controlling and observing it. and again time is just a human value, what could be billions of years for us humans could be one day for the Force
the other point I would like to make is if "something" put the earth and the moon where they are, why then make barren wastelands out of the remaining 7 planets of our solar system? why "cherry pick" just one tiny planet and make it the special one. It sure seems short-sighted or even uncaring of a knowledgeable "force" don't you think? majority of the solar system is too hot or too cold to live on and even on our planet, we humans survive in a temperate habitable belt. if we were in fact put on the earth, I think it'd be pretty selfish to have restricted humanity to such a small belt when the universe in itself is so massive.
As much as I've learnt so far, we're a cosmological fluke to have evolved on this planet the way we have. Nothing put us here and nothing monitors our existence. At the right temperature, pressure and a little h20 in a petri will allow simple cell organisms to grow and do some remarkable things. that's where life evolved from and the naturally occurring conditions on this planet nourish it. yes you can use God as an example to make yourself believe it's thanks to his will that's made us, but that's an individual choice (as you have said so in your view of the world). I used to be religious, but now, having been very interested in astronomy, cosmology etc. for several years now, I'm not so sure anymore.Last edited by Kamal; July 4, 2010, 02:41:05 PM.www.mjwebhosting.com

Re: The power of the Sun
Lets not confuse religious with spirituality. Many members here do not believe in spirituality or a higher power of any kind, but many do. At any rate, I like to think most members are above the notion of simple religiousness.

Re: The power of the Sun
i really dont wanna go into the string theory here coz it makes my brain hurt for some reason, but what defines human time? its the revolving of earth and night and day, thats what makes our year and 12hrs in outer space there is no such things so time as we know it is not really real, its just for the earth residents. so again the 12 billion years you are referring to could really be 10 days.
talking about meteors and cosmic timing, proves that everything is in perfect order and timing that is controlled by a force and only this force could stop a meteor from hitting the earth or allow it, no technology on earth can do anything about it other than observe it, see if i heard that a meteor is about to hit earth, i will try to go to the highest spot and watch it do it beautifully with complete surrender.
cosmological unfolding of events didn't it all just occur out of coincidence with no planning or strategy behind it, it unfolded in great order and with very minor detail in consideration, everything was meant to happen the way it is now, including the moon being part of a left over planet, didnt it in the end come to benefit human kind? and when it goes away then that also explains that this world has an ending, we are not eternal to be saved from being mortal, we are told that there is an end and yet all the signs prove so why continue in disbelief? the same Force that gave you a brain to think and make choices is the brain of the universe and it is beyond smart.nothing "put" the earth at a specific distance from the sun other than cosmological unfolding of events related to planetary formation. The moon is generally believed to be a part of a left over planet that collided with the earth 4.5 billion years ago and the debris from the collision/left over planet is trapped by the gravitational tug of the earth. moreover, the moon is moving away from the earth (like an inch every year or so). in a matter of a few million years, the moon will distance itself far enough where its' gravitational effect on the earth will be marginal at best. what's going to save us then?
see we humans are so tiny and weak, powerless and greedy yet we still think we are so tough just coz we went to the moon, instead of being thankful that we were provided a place to live and thats suits us very well with all our needs (i.e. H2O, CO2, O2 certain temp, night and day, etc..) we are not satisfied and our greed makes us want the whole universe, and we call it selfish when we should just be thankful coz none of us had a hand in the making of this earth, why do you worry about the other planets when you should be happy that at least you got one for you, isnt the whole earth enough for you or do you wanna go live on mars by yourself or sth?the other point I would like to make is if "something" put the earth and the moon where they are, why then make barren wastelands out of the remaining 7 planets of our solar system? why "cherry pick" just one tiny planet and make it the special one. yeah but who set the right temperature and pressure and founded h2o in the first place, who set the plants and the photosynthesis process for us to get our oxygen, the most essential to us living and its completely free, you can call it nature but who founded nature? and believing in God as a creator and founder has nothing to do with being religious, and just to let you know God was first found through astronomy and cosmology thousands of years ago, before any religion or holy book existed, and it was with the movement of sun and the moon, first they thought it was the moon coz it was lucent and big, then when the sun came up, it was said that its bigger and more lucent and the sun must be our god and when the sun set and the moon came up again they came to a conclusion that God can not disappear so He must be the creator of the sun and the moon in the first place and he is who controls them.As much as I've learnt so far, we're a cosmological fluke to have evolved on this planet the way we have. Re: The power of the Sun
explain the difference between the two. moreover, how do you define "spirituality"?
All you're doing is blanketing everything you choose not to accept a scientific explanation for, with the "God" reason. So we'll just agree to disagree because instead of seeing the near impossible conditions of life evolving on this planet as a cosmological fluke, you prefer to state that it's so incredibly fragile, it "must" be an external hand influencing this design.i really dont wanna go into the string theory here coz it makes my brain hurt for some reason, but what defines human time? its the revolving of earth and night and day, thats what makes our year and 12hrs in outer space there is no such things so time as we know it is not really real, its just for the earth residents. so again the 12 billion years you are referring to could really be 10 days.

Re: The power of the Sun
I see religion as something you do mechanically, such as: bowing every day at noon, going to church every saturday at 10AM, wearing a special outfit every day and keeping your hair a certain way because a religious book says you should.
I see spirituality as having free will to choose to have a relationship with a power higher than yourself and believing that there are forces of good and evil and making a conscious decision to develop a relationship with a higher power that is forgiving and loving and is connected eternally to the human spirit once the human body dies.
It was fun while it lasted...

Re: The power of the Sun
well you cant also explain everything as just power nature, somethings are so miraculous that it must be a greater power unless you just do not want to believe then nothing will change that even the greatest signs (which are also scientifically backed up), im not trying to convince u here and you go on believing what you want but theres nothing wrong with sharing views thats why humans are different in the first place. its definitely an external hand coz neither did i or you create all of this or even could create a mosquito let alone a universe, we were just brought to it, but again its the human mind that makes him think he's something when he's really powerless.explain the difference between the two. moreover, how do you define "spirituality"?

Re: The power of the Sun
so spirituality is merely a restricted version of being religious where you're not bound to all of the practices of a religion, but isolate the "power" (or God) and believe in it.I see religion as something you do mechanically, such as: bowing every day at noon, going to church every saturday at 10AM, wearing a special outfit every day and keeping your hair a certain way because a religious book says you should.

to sum up for what you're saying in the famous words of Christopher Hitchens, "God didn't make man, man made God".well you cant also explain everything as just power nature, somethings are so miraculous that it must be a greater power unless you just do not want to believe then nothing will change that even the greatest signs (which are also scientifically backed up), im not trying to convince u here and you go on believing what you want but theres nothing wrong with sharing views thats why humans are different in the first place. its definitely an external hand coz neither did i or you create all of this or even could create a mosquito let alone a universe, we were just brought to it, but again its the human mind that makes him think he's something when he's really powerless.

wow is that what you summed it up to, then obviously you got ur understanding all mixed up coz i meant the total opposite of this. but yeah you go on wondering about the next billion years and how selfish it is that you dont own a lake house on mars when your life will last maybe another 70 yrs and trust me everything will still be in perfect order as it has been, "God dosent need man, man needs God"Life's pretty fast..blup..blup...We made it!!Comment
