so as dance music grows and grows.. it seems (to me at least) that we should consider something... i think most people agree that there are at least some general genre characteristics within tracks... usually at least somewhat definable. but recently, some djs are really playing a broad spectrum of those genres...

albeit, some better than others.. it makes it really hard to classify a dj...

so maybe we should start seperating what it means for a dj to be 'progressive' or whatever you wanna call it... .. i dunno.. some might argue that its been done already, but it seems to me that unless you play strictly one genre, you fall under 'progressive'

well maybe the definition of progressive has changed as many of us know it...from playing a specific 'genre' to playing a wide variety and actually 'progressing' through a set...

I don't really care about genres. There are just too many of them and differences are fading away. for example, techno has "softened", house has "progressed", so a listener doesn't really know what he's going to be "served" when atttending a party. Well, it's good that DJs are crossing genre boundaries and thus widen our horizons.

I listen to what I like; it doesn't really matter what genre it is and I avoid classyfing music as much as possible, because it's just impossible to do it...

I think that records u use to dj r records from several labels and styles, and u have to improve and select those u like an tose u think r moving on the right way!!!
