Wow, if they do that is going to put a death grip on a lot of people considering how much consumer debt there is these days. I know I just had to consolidate my school loans because there was a big rate increase for those, not really the same thing tho.Beats are my crack.Comment

the times are a changing. read an article about how the credit card companies are taking huge losses due to the hurricanes, and more so with the high cost of gas. people are not saving their money and putting more on their cards. with gas alone at least doubling in cost in the past few months, the card companies are finding that more people are not paying as much toward thier bills or not paying at all. they have to balance it out somehow. unfortunately you have to pay those guys off in full at least every year. or the amount of time the card allows before the rate on those purchases goes up (some 6 months some only 3). the only way to make sure your not gonna get screwed is to pay in full every month.
if they are trying to push thier APR that high it may be time to move the balance to a new card. just imagine with an APR that high and if people are over their limit and paying late fees. well nothing would be going toward the balance. those credit card bastards

Yes....APR's did go up if your card is % + prime rate. The prime rate has been on the rise this year. Its been going up about 1/4% every two months.
Heres a chart showing whats up...
I didnt realize that the prime rate is at 6.75%. About 8 years ago, I used to solicit credit cards and prime rate back then was 8.75%. Fucked up thing is that I never saw my APR drop while the prime rate dropped, which means credit card companies were making only more $$$.Push the envelope, watch it bend.
