I'm attending a Christmas party in a couple of weeks with a "Dinner & A Movie" theme, meaning that we are to bring a dish that is related to a famous movie, TV show, or book. Some of the suggestions so far include Obi-Wan Cannoli, Marty Mousse, Cindy Lou Who Stew and Forrest Gumbo. It is, by the way, a contest.
Anyone have any ideas? I've thought of doing "A Taco Dip Now" (Apocaplypse Now), but I honestly can't imagine a taco dip being all that well received. We've also considered "Wok the Lime," and doing a Thai-influenced stir-fry. That's probably the front-runner right now...
I know there are some creative folks on here. Any thoughts?
The great escape - The steak escape (steeeeeeeeeak)
Pasta or Spaghetti. (lady and the tramp)
anything pizza (there are tons of pizza movies)
you could bring the cake from Steven Segals under seige.. minus the titties. (mmmmm dessert)
Platoon stew?
POE-TA-TOESSSSSS (lotr) lol
fried green tomatos?
soul food?
tortilla soup
Bubba Gump shrimp gumbo sounds delicious..
i'm out of ideas

i like obi wan cannoli...but i like that idea better with an italian themed movie, like The Godfather = The Corleone Canaloni, (have to say it with a thick italian mafia accent.) you could even poke bullit holes in the canaloni.
go to bob's fish market and pick up some fresh fatty salmon and take some sort of sushi or fish themed thing - that stuff looks just like Nemo.
Onion Rings - Lord of the Rings
Make the same thing three times, or something like that...make one with impressive presentation, the second one with mediocre presentation, and the third one with horrible presentation and you've got The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. You could even combine movies on this one...use any of your other ideas, and make em three times presented above. Or make salsa...mild, hot, and burn your face off....good, bad, ugly. etc.
lol...i have one for Schindler's List, but you probably don't want that one, and i'm not going to type it.

Instead of a full-on taco dip, make a variation of it–a massive pile of ground hamburger, cheese, sauce, etc. in the middle of a vast forest of nacho chips. "Hamburger Hill."
Don't forget to garnish it with a dozen or so green plastic army men.
