California parking ticket at 7-11 this morning !!!

Some jackass cop gave me a ticket for parking in a handicap zone at the 7-11 while I was getting coffe this morning. Thing is I didnt park directly in the handicap zone, but in the angled white striped zone next to the handicap space.

Does this cop have jurisdiction to ticket me on private property ? What are the laws in CA for proper handicap spot signage. I heard that the space must be painted with the handicap logo AND also have a handicap sign in front of the space. This spot is only painted on the ashpalt, it has no sign.

Just pay the ticket and go on your way. Here is a real reason to hate cops, getting punched in the face when you have cuffs on. It was all right though, I was in the same bar a week later and he came in for a drink. He got his ass whooped and I was okay about getting arrested this time.

I do not respect a lot of cops. I have some personal friends who are cops and they pretty much all have a napolean complex. Furthermore when they tell me how its great to pick up chicks on the shift, and they just drive around l looking for blacks and mexicans to pull over, I further lose respect !!!!! Oh yeah, another cop I know said that after they confiscate booze from underage kids, they just go and drink it themselves.

sorry, but this pretty much sums it up. If these are your personal friends...what does that say about your lack of respect for the law

In case you didn't know, angled white stripes are a universal way of saying "DON'T PARK HERE". There is such a thing as illegally parking; your opinion of cops doesn't mean jack because it's not relevant to the facts. Pay the damn thing and stop complaining.

OK, I am stupid because I parked in a handicap zone. You guys are right.

What I really asked was should I fight it due to it not being properly signed.

Anything left unpainted or gray is considered to be available for unrestricted parking, subject to local rules and things like metering, obstructions, other parking signs, etc. Note that green (short-term) and gray (unrestricted) areas may be metered.
It's also worth noting that there may not be any signs indicating the parking status for a given area -- there may just be the color of the curb to go by.
This color scheme is often also used in private parking lots.
