I would make a Bob Barr sign. Then, i would make a second sign with a large ">" in the middle. Then i would post the bob barr sign next to the mccain sign.
it would look like this

"Bob Barr"--- ">" ----"McCain/Palin"
......I I........... II........ .........I ...I......... .

or you could change 'bob barr" to "barack obama" for epic ownz.

For bonus points: you could, on the opposite side of the "BobBarr" and ">" signs, write it in reverse so thier sign gets owned either way you drive by.

actually, i would put a Ron paul sign, now that I think about it. That would REALLY piss her off, and yet, she can't do shit about it. McCain supporters hate people like Paul and Hagel.

i totally want a picture posted on your photoalbum if you do it. just to see how it looks.

Two reasons for putting up the signs:
1. Strong supporters just like to show their support, and it makes them feel like they are doing something. There was a time during this campaign where it was really tough to find an Obama yard sign because the campaign didn't think they were important, and people were pissed.
2. There are geographic areas where it can actually be helpful. It should probably come as a shock to no one that I have an Obama sign in my yard, and have had one for quite some time now. I live pretty deep in the city, though, and even without the sign, most everyone knows that people in my neighborhood are voting for Obama. Not particularly helpful in my area.

St. Louis County, on the other hand -- where you have a lot of republicans -- is a different matter. It isn't going to affect hardcore republicans, but for the more casual voters living in heavily republican areas, seeing a ton of Obama signs kinda gives you permission to give Obama a look. I'm talking here about people that vote republican because they've always voted republican and assume that's what they ought to do so now as well. No one is going to change their vote on account of seeing a bunch of signs, but if you're living in GOP country and suddenly all of your neighbors start throwing up Obama signs, maybe you give him a second look.

Mostly, though, it's reason #1. Yard signs are more for the benefit of supporters than the candidate, in national elections.

Would you mind moving it over to the side more so that it's clear that it's in your yard?"

First, you're not being a dick about it, and second, by using the fact that you consider politics personal, you kinda head off at the pass any attempt to engage you in a political discussion. If you'd like, maybe throw in something about how in your job, you deal with people of all political affiliations and don't want to ever be seen as supporting any particular candidate or position because it would alienate some of your customer base/put you in a bad spot with your boss/whatever, I'm sure you get the idea. Would be tough for someone to disagree with that, I would think.

adolescent response: Can you put up some nice gay rights signs very close to the mccain signs - but just on your side of the yard.
or better still have a couple of your gay mates come round and snog in rush hour traffic (for your neighbourhood) right in front of the mccain sign for everyone to see

I would agree with toasty, but I'm inclined to think that a person who is putting thier signs right up to your mailbox is not going to give a fuck, particularly when they have TWO signs in such a small area.

I'm thinking, why not have a little fun?

I would use one of the many 'fail' pictures and put an equal sign next to the mccain thing so it reads McCain/Palin = "Insert picture of a dumbass who has a failed"

hahaha, that is a good question...not even a little bit though.. very small frame with a very rough manly voice.. and annoying as fuck.. but she did go to culinary school and used to bring me food all the time, though I think she had an alterior motive, so that hasnt heppened in a while.. christ the food wasnt THAT good

toasty.. you bring up a good point with the work thing actually since I drive a company vehicle with company logos and what not on it. and as I said I somewhat understand the showing of support, but two signs is a bit much, its not like we live on acres and acres of land, lol

88mariner and Kabir, your ideas are gold, I just dont think I have enough time to get obama signs and put them up.. BUT..... getting some white tape and writing FAIL on them is what I am leaning towards!

whatever i decide on, I will deffo take pics and post them

as I said its not that I am a die hard democrat by any means, just think it is a bit much, and any normal person imo should know thats over the top
