Politics aside, my prayers are with him. It was tough when I lost my grandmother. I still hope he loses the election, but my prayers are with him and his family for their loss.

I don't mean to suggest that he didn't/doesn't love his family members, but keep in mind that every politician would be compelled to behave the same way if for no other reason than their own political self interest.

Obama is a big boy and I am sure he can handle it (McCains comments. I am not referring to his recent loss) . Maybe Obama should make it a point to avoid controversial people and groups in his career. But the way you make it sound is Obama never said anything negative about McCain. I guess he was running an actual honest campaign.

McCain is a big boy and I am sure he can handle it. Palin is a big girl and I am sure she can handle it.

Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't think that Obama should be criticized. It's normal and fully appropriate for politicians to criticize each others' policies and ideological positions. Obama should absolutely have his feet held to the fire and be tested on his proposals, just like every other politician.

But then again, it's different when McCain and Palin decide to make it a central point in their campaign to repeatedly aledge that Obama is a Communist, a Socialist, a terrorist sympathizer, that he is somehow not "real American" enough in their book. That didn't have to be the case, and it frankly says a lot more about them than it does about Obama. Obama has criticized McCain and Palin's viewpoints, but he hasn't repeatedly suggested that they are heavy-handed, freedom-hating fascists.
