Can't believe there isn't already a thread about this show, considering its in the second season already. Fantastic acting in this. Gabriel Byrne is great, and all of the patients are as well. Really like the fact that the last day of the week flips things around and has him as the patient...very clever.

Its not light fare, but definitely worthwhile watching. Many comments I've seen say its the closest thing to therapy ever portrayed on tv (never having been to therapy myself, though clearly i need it ).

i always thought this looked good but dont have hbo. it looks like isnt it on like 3-4 days a week too?

ya its on alot i think...i just watched it on dvd and have been downloading season 2. they are half hour episodes, so there are 46 of them in a season...

make sure to watch 'em in order, and avoid reading the description about the episode if you can help it.

I'm a qualified therapist myself and initially enjoyed the program but lost interest. While some of the actual dialogues seem quite real and authentic, I felt the show lost its way with silly plots. The essence of the show and indeed the main characters seem to be geared towards becoming almost soap-opera-like. The program would have been a sure fire winner if it had just focused on the actual mechanics of therapy. If anything, I feel therapists are portrayed in a crazy light, and may actually prevent potential clients from entering therapy.

i dunno, i like them showing the aspect that therapists have problems like everyone else. i don't think it would personally deter me from actually seeking therapy if i needed it.

i think had they not done any side-plots with him, his family, etc...the show would have been interesting only to therapists

I agree that therapist have real problems - I only crashed my car on Wed

I guess I was just looking for something better than the usual dribble portrayed on TV/film. Having said that, Gabriel Byrne does a very good job.
