Find members who have similar tastes in music

I just wrote some code to help us find members who have similar tastes in music! You can find it by browsing over to our home page and looking under your favorite artists. The members are sorted by similarity... the higher the rank, the more similar the tastes you have!

The info is based on your DJ Database favorites, so if you don't see any data or if you don't agree with what you see, try subscribing to new artists! You can get more info about our DJ Database here


I'm anxious to hear feedback on this! Is it useful? If you disagree with the results, have you subscribed to all of your favorite DJs? I'm planning on taking this a step further sometime soon to (hopefully) have [ms] automatically recommend new DJs to you based on the most like-minded members. Until then, give me feedback on what you like, what you don't, what we need, etc!

tis a good idea on getting members to u the dj database feature, so yeah go for it!

Dude you know what this could end up becoming right? Facebook for music. Next you can have age-groups, locations, upcoming events being pulled from various feeds on the web, this could definitely become HUGE.

So it´s not all equal, but I feel the similarities have a lot to do with these being amongst the people who have "subscribed" to a bigger number of artists... I guess some people only fvourite 3 or 4 artists...

This is certainly a start to something I have always been hoping to get out of MS. There are certain people on here who I have found to have similar tastes in music to me, and I would love for them to be able to recommend tunes to me. With this, I could at least search the "what are you listening to" thread for the names in my list, so yes, I think this is a great start!

haha whoops! I still had it set to key off of my username from the testing

Try now. I just set it to use your own info instead of mine. You should all have some more unique lists

Sounds like a good idea Adam and should get people using the Database a bit more often (like myself).
Just got to get into the habit of it i suppose and this should be really good for finding out new artists.
