Production What kind of mixers do you guys use?

I use a Behringer 32-channel, 8-bus mixer (MX3208a or something). Been thinking about upgrading, but this mixer was dirt cheap for the inputs (around $450). Does anybody have experience with Behringer mixers and was it really that big of a difference (like more than, say, 5% better quality)? Like say, compared to a Mackie?

I've been kind of looking at the A&H Mixwizard3, 16:2, but I do like and use my extensive routing options on the Behringer.

Well...I fell like an ass. I had origianally replied thinking this was in the DJ section and then realized this is the production section....I was perplexed as to why someone would use a 32 track 8 bus to dj with. You must understand my confusion.

The only smaller consoles a have dealt w/ are Mackies so I cant give any advice on A/B comparison.

Hm, my sound is just meh, with a 909 and Machinedrum I expected more but I'm wondering if I need a better compressor (using Logic plugs for now), or if it's my mixer's... shittiness. *shrug*

STAY AWAY FROM THE BEHRINGER. I would say the Mackie definately has a 5% + difference in sound than the behringer. The mackie boards do not have the "warm" "full" sound but are "pure" and "crisp" sonically.

This is the advise given to my class here @ SAE from the instuctors who have been in the business for 30 years or more. I dont know from personal expereience but they all know their shit and unanimously agree that behringers suck

Soundcraft is the company that makes Urei mixers, so I'd say they are quite good.

Cant blame you for picking up the behringer for $450.....you should be able to get a Mackie A8B for around 2K-2500 new. You can find them used on e-bay for under a grand. Nothing else in this same price range can touch the sonic qualities of this mixer.

                  ^Your Xone got wet?

I currently upgraded from a 1993 3 channel Gemini mixer to a nice Xone: 62. I also purchased 2 Pioneer MKII's and currently my 2 Technique tables are packed away covered like a classic car in a garage.

Im in the process of re-arranging my bedroom to have all componants hooked up and ready to jam out! I have a rather large long desk that would fit all of the 5 items. It's just a little low. I need something to give me some height.

well I think Im rambling at this point.
