An established and accomplished veteran of the music business provides this week’s Clash DJ mix – roots, dub and electronica producer and ace Theremin player, US artist Gaudi.
Bringing a much-needed dose of innovation and dirty electronics to the world music scene, Gaudi has been producing for the best part of 30 years, with an obscenely long list of accomplishments and high-cred collaborations under his belt – Lee Scratch Perry, Horace Andy and Grandmaster Flash, to name but a few. He’s also one of the only people on the planet to make the bagpipes an acceptable instrument by mixing it with massive dubstep bass swells on his latest album.
Gaudi’s Clash podcast demonstrates his love of oddball electronics, his appetite for beats and bass, and – crucially – an immensely well-trained musical ear. His mix blends together a carefully honed selection of classic rootsy sounds and contemporary electronica vibes, picked by an artist with years of experience and more than a few killer tunes lurking in his musical collection.
Gaudi’s twelfth studio album, ‘No Prisoners’, is out now.
