    [ms] birthday
    Mercuryserver 5th birthday (2007)

If somebody told me in 2002 that my simple Google search for a possibility to listen to Digweed’s Kiss100 show will lead to what happened after I stumbled over a site called Mercuryserver.com I would have just laughed. I can't believe what we have done in the past five years because this equals an eternity in Internet standards. But I also can’t believe we talk ONLY about five years. When I recall what happened the last five years both on and around our website(s) and in my private life it almost feels like an entire Life I lived. I experienced things I never thought I would and talked to and met interesting people and artists and also made friendships all around the Globe.

I am really thankful for the last five years because I did something I believed in and had a chance to express my passion for music which is a key element in my Life. All in all I had a hell of a time doing this because [ms] was different the day I saw it first and still is…raw and disgusting but at the same time charming and funny and even the dramas are unique most of the time. Thanks to everybody who supported Mercuryserver and helped us in the past making it what is it - be it our team members or the artists we feature or the members that make this site as special for me as it is. Kudos to all of you.

To make this day something special also for you we have amazing exclusive mixes from artists which we supported over the years and are a part the [ms] community as far as we see it. Their mixes will not be made available on our download page but directly in this post so everybody can enjoy them without limitations.

We also spoil you with cool prizes you can win if you answer most answers in our official Mercuryserver 5th anniversary quiz right. Check out the other sticky thread on top of this forum for more info.

Very soon we will also have the 2007 edition of Mercuryserver shirts ready for you and in opposite to most movies, our 2nd generation is not worse than the first edition from 2005.

Last but not least we raised the limit of downloads of any sets posted on our download page significantly so from today on it should happen less that you see the disappointing “Too many members are downloading please try again later” message.

Onward and upward and Happy birthday, [ms]

Thanks to our NYC connection Alex and Noah who are with us since several years already. We feature their mixes regularly here to remind people that they are good at what they are doing and so far the feedback from our members was always good so we hope you will enjoy this one as well. Their website has just been revamped from Yao so check it out.

What can I say..Luke is into the scene not only since yesterday and surely belongs to the elite of EDM DJs we know and appreciate. Thanks to a cooperation with Barney from www.bringthebeats.com and Luke we feature his mixes since early 2004 already and it was always an honour for us to help a little with promotion. John played Luke's guest mixes in 2001, 2003, 2! times in 2005 and 2007 on his Kiss100/Transitions and I am sure it wasn't the last time we will hear him mumble Luke's name. Though Luke made himself quite a name he posts here like he is Joe Average from next door without you think he lives in another world or is only here to copy and paste promotional info and that's just the way we like it. I still remember his 1st post on this board and had to dig it out.

    Hernan Cattaneo (Argentina)

Download the Hernan Cattaneo Mercuryserver 5th anniversary mix here: Click me

I have been a huge fan of Hernan since 2001 and when I saw him live for the first time in Cologne in 2002 warming up for Paul Oakenfold he blew me away completely - especially because this kind of sound was all new to me at this time and it was a kind of eye opening evening for me. Last year I met him in person and he is really like everybody told...both feet on the ground and very nice and polite without any superstar DJ attitude and he always has a minute for his fans. We are honored to host his Metrodance show here on Mercuryserver for almost two years to make it available to a broader and international audience. Many thanks to Hernan for finding the time to support us on this special day.

Maybe you think wow a new mix from Hernan but that's not it already. On May 7th, 2007 his new 2xCD "Renaissance Presents: Hernan Cattaneo - Sequential 2" will be available in stores and he was kind enough to give us his new Renaissance promo before it will be made available to others so many thanks again.

Download the Hernan Cattaneo April Renaissance promo: Click me

"Hernan Cattaneo presents the latest instalment in his Sequential series. Two discs of expertly blended house that once again demonstrate his diversity, impeccable sourcing and unparalleled mixing ability.

With over 120 dates a year, Hernan Cattaneo is undoubtedly one of the busiest DJs in the world - not to mention one of the best. If proof were needed look no further than the latest volume in his Sequential series, an incredible double-mix CD that demonstrates why he’s regarded as one of the world’s best DJs and the undisputed peoples champion in his native South America.

Renowned for his smooth mixing and programming, Sequential Vol.2 sees Hernan draw on his far-reaching diary to feature a global array of tracks from Scandinavia, Holland, Germany, Israel, Greece and Argentina (of course!), alongside the obligatory stalwarts from England and America. The music itself naturally mirrors this diverse approach, expertly interpreting and marrying a Martin Buttrich remix with Israels Chaim or Romanias Livio and Roby with Nic Fanciulli’s masterful remix of Francois DuBois, just to highlight a few of the many moments contained within. Hernan elaborates, (this is) a mix that mirrors Vol.1, beginning on an atmospheric, emotive tip, rising toward more peak-time fare. Along the way, I hope to have captured (the aforementioned) diversity, alongside a few pleasant surprises and, most importantly, a true reflection of my current sound.

And what a privileged sound it is; beyond an original production and intro remix from Hernan and studio partner John Tonks, he has also sourced 4 other tracks from friends who, at his behest, produced them exclusively for the album. The result a whopping 6 exclusives serves to further distinguish the compilation from the crowd, in particular, the ever-increasing bootleg culture of live mix sets."

Hernan Cattaneo - Sequential 2 tracklist:

    CD1:

    1. Blue Foundation – Sweep (Hernan Cattaneo & John Tonks Little Intro Mix)
    2. Crowdpleaser & St. Plomb – 18 Years
    3. Livio & Roby Feat. George G – Monochrome (Reprise)
    4. Fran?ois DuBois - I Try (Nic Fanciulli Remix)
5 Hernan Cattaneo & John Tonks – Anime (Sequential Mix)
    6. Xplore – Time Travel
    7. DP6 – Summer Time
    8. Kosmas Epsilon – Paranoid (Eelke Kleijn Remix)
    9. 16 Bit Lolitas – Goodbye Pluto
    10. Guy J – Agent Blue
    11. Itamar Sagi - Sparta (Original Mix)
    12. X-Green – In Place Solo
    13. TG – Rhythm Acupuncture (Martin Buttrich Remix)
    14. Chaim Feat. Shy – Popsky

Many thanks to Moshic for providing us with a recording from a live gig from last weekend where he played at the Escape club in Bulgaria which makes our 5th anniversary aural feast complete. We support Moshic since 2002 and vice versa and though he has little time he always checks our site and responds to questions from fans. He is just the nicest guy on earth and - no matter how many years have passed - still a proud member of the underground and doing it for the love of Music just like we do. Viva la underground and Kudos to you, Moshic.

Kintar and Rex are the artists I am personally involved most with because they play exactly the style I want to listen to and get carried away with every time I put my Ipod on. I enjoy mixes from all artists we host and many of them blew me away but Kintar & Rex' mixes will always be something special for me and an aural feast whenever I get to hear a new one. First of all, many thanks to Kintar and Rex for supporting the [ms] community with an exclusive mix and thanks for the hours you sent me to another world. Also thanks to club Pasha , DJ Bookings and Sudam Recordings for making this possible.

Another duo from New York City who DJ and produce/remix their own tracks but are even longer with us than Holosound. Their Morhaus mixes have created quite a stir on the internet whenever a new one came out and Mac and Ali will always find a ready welcome here. So far they were featured three times (2002, 2003 and 2005) on John Digweed's Kiss100/Transitions show so they must be doing something right. Thanks for your ongoing support and unique mixes guys. Ali told Kamal that this mix is full of unreleased material so look forward to it, girls and boys.

Re: [ms] 5th birthday - The mixes

When putting his post together, Tom actually asked me to sort of proof it (yea I know, one blind man leading another in a language not native to either one ) but having read what he said, I felt even changing a word or a comma in it would take away the emotion that he put into it when wrote about [ms].

And I for one believe every word of what he said.

It only seems like yesterday, the "seeds" of where we are today were being sown. It seemed every step of the way, there was a challenge we were trying to overcome, and overcome it we did.

Starting from me trying to find Kiss 100 shows on the internet, running into Audio Galaxy, finding Ahmed's Kiss 100 group, discussing the potential of setting up a regular distribution method for the Kiss shows, running into a majority of the team members who are still with us, trial and error of so many different platforms to host the music, then looking for a place to chitty chat once AG kicked the bucket, to Sheppie's simple 1 line chat program which cued conversations for a 24 hour period and finally running into phpBB, getting mercuryserver.com domain from Algy...to eventually where we are this glorious day.... 5 long eventful years later......

jesus... looking back I realize it wasn't easy .... but never looking back at it as a hurdle rather than a challenge every step of the way has lead us to where we stand, from the friendships we share with so many, I feel privileged to share this place with friends from such diverse backgrounds and all walks of life.

I thank you for being a part of MercuryServer from the bottom of my heart and I only hope we can continue to make this place as comfortable and easy going for everyone possible.

As I've said it before, until the end, there will always remain....
